Ms. Alisa and Mr. Mushtaaq (Year 6 and Secondary English teacher, respectively) organised a fantastic Book Week event that included storytelling workshops and poetry slams, a Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) event, and audiobook production. Secondary students read books with Primary and EY as part of our Buddy Reading campaign in an effort to create a supportive reading environment, while students were also treated to an exciting storytelling session by local children’s book writer, Mohana Gill. Classroom doors came to life with book covers made by our students, and the best part had to be the cosplay parade, in which students and teachers dressed up as their favourite characters from a book. We saw many Harry Potters and Hermiones, demonstrating that magic and wizardry are still igniting imaginations. The entire event concluded with prizes for best dressed and a book fair by local bookseller, Bundusan.
