Student Study Pathway

Study pathway
At UCSI International School Kuala Lumpur, our educational journey begins with the Early Years programme for children aged 3 to 5. We follow the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC), integrated with the Cambridge Curriculum for English, Mathematics and Science. Our approach is guided by the 5Cs of 21st-century education: Curiosity, Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Creativity. With a strong focus on holistic development and social-emotional well-being, we ensure each child learns in a nurturing environment where they can grow, express themselves and thrive.
In Primary (ages 5 to 11), we combine the Cambridge Primary Curriculum with the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) to offer a balanced and inclusive academic experience. Students explore subjects such as Science, Mathematics, English, ICT, Music, PE, Swimming and Makerspace. They also learn additional languages, including Bahasa Melayu, Mandarin and Spanish. Tailored support is available through our EAL and English Immersion Programme (EIP), allowing every student to grow with confidence and clarity. Our curriculum emphasises key values such as respect, empathy and responsibility. A compulsory checkpoint is conducted in Year 6 before students progress to the next stage of their education.
Secondary education begins with Lower Secondary (ages 11 to 14) in Years 7 to 9, building on Primary foundations and preparing students for the Cambridge IGCSE. At the end of Year 9, students are required to complete a compulsory checkpoint before progressing to Upper Secondary. The IGCSE programme (ages 15 to 17) equips students with vital skills in enquiry, creative thinking and global awareness. Our learners graduate with internationally recognised qualifications and the confidence to pursue A-Levels, foundation pathways, or other higher education routes, ready to thrive in a connected and fast-changing world.
UniFrog Careers and Pathways Support
We are proud to offer UniFrog, a comprehensive platform that “helps students with the whole progression process—from exploring their interests, to recording the great things they’ve done, to finding education and training opportunities, to drafting their applications.” — unifrog.org
Students from Year 7 to Year 11 and their families have full access to UniFrog, where they can explore a wide careers library, up-to-date university entry requirements, application procedures, tuition costs, and more. The platform also connects students with industry professionals and offers a variety of workshops and courses for career support.

Careers Support and Future Pathways
At UCSI KL, our vision is to help students become global citizens and future leaders. We understand that a key part of this journey is providing a strong and diverse education—along with the support families need to navigate life after UCSI—so they can make informed decisions about their child’s future.
Further and Higher Education Support
Through our strong ties with local universities and colleges, we provide career ‘experience’ workshops that give students hands-on exposure to different professions. We also host regular visits from university and college advisors, offering families direct access to expert guidance on further and higher education opportunities.
