Early Years Centre

At UCSI International School KL, our Early Years programme offers a nurturing and engaging
environment where young children learn through action, exploration and play. Our syllabus follows
the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) complemented by the Cambridge framework for
English, Mathematics and Science.
The programme focuses on the 5Cs of 21st-century learning—curiosity, communication,
collaboration, critical thinking and creativity—while being equally dedicated to each student’s socialemotional well-being. This balanced approach supports holistic development that will lead to a
strong foundation for lifelong confidence and love of learning

How do we teach the IEYC?
The learning process adopts the following sequence:

The IEYC is built around four Learning Strands that underpin all learning and development:

Social-emotional development
Within our students, we nurture
positive self-esteem, empathy and
teach emotional regulation through
positive interactions, conflict
resolution strategies and mindfulness
practices.

Resilience and growth mindset
We create a safe space for exploration
where effort and learning are
celebrated. Mistakes are learned from,
not penalised. Children are encouraged
to persevere through challenges and
embrace a growth mindset. We also
implement safeguarding policy to
ensure a safe environment to the
community.

Global citizenship
We cultivate a sense of community by
fostering respect for diversity,
inclusivity and environmental
responsibility. Children learn that
differences should be appreciated and
honoured, not just tolerated.
