PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
The UCSI Schools Teacher Trainee Programme (TTP) is a dynamic initiative aimed at identifying, nurturing, and empowering aspiring 21st-century educators. This programme is crafted to provide a comprehensive and hands-on learning experience, ensuring that trainees emerge as well-rounded and effective teachers, ready to meet the challenges of 21st-century education.
PROGRAMME COMPONENTS
- Blend theoretical knowledge with practical teaching skills.
- Integration of innovative teaching methodologies and educational technologies.
- Familiarise with various international and also national curriculums.
- Assign each trainee a mentor for personalised guidance and continuous support.
- Regular feedback sessions to facilitate continuous improvement
- Encourage peer collaboration and a sense of community.
3. Subject-Specific Training:
- Develop specialised subject teachers with a deep understanding of the curriculum
- Align subject-specific training with industry standards and real-world applications.
- Encourage interdisciplinary approaches to teaching.
- Implement language proficiency enhancement programmes to enhance communication skills.
- Emphasise language proficiency standards in teaching practices.
- Provide hands-on experience with the latest educational technologies.
- Training in the effective integration of technology into classroom instruction.
- Incorporate principles of inclusive education to cater to diverse learning needs.
- Sensitise trainees to cultural competency and diversity in educational settings.
- Provide a pathway for trainees to attain a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from UCSI University (QS World University Rankings 2024: World’s Top 1% Universities).
- Offer opportunities for trainees to acquire industry-recognised certifications, specifically Microsoft Certified Educators or Apple Teacher certifications.
- Emphasis on continuous professional development.
- Identify and nurture leadership potential among trainees.
- Mentorship for those interested in taking leadership roles within UCSI Schools Group.
- Engage trainees in community service projects.
- Foster a sense of social responsibility and community involvement.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To qualify for our TTP, you need to:
- Graduate with a Bachelor’s degree from reputable universities with a minimum CGPA of 3.0.
- Obtain at least a ‘B’ grade in IGCSE English First Language or UEC/SPM English or equivalent.
If you are identified as a specialist subject teacher, you must have a relevant degree. For example, if you are applying to teach Business, you must have a degree in Economics, Business Studies, or Marketing.
If you do not meet this requirement, you can start your teaching career in one of our UCSI Schools as an intern or teaching assistant for one academic year, and your performance will be assessed for eligibility to the TTP.
Financial Support
- Competitive salary during the training period.
- Full tuition fee sponsorship for Postgraduate Certificate in Education at UCSI University with an employment bond.
