Prior to her teaching, Kumutha has worked as a Medical Lab Scientific Officer and an Associate Scientist in a medical and healthcare industry. The Sciences are an integration of Biology, Chemistry and Physics which focuses on conceptual understanding, skills and application of scientific knowledge to the real world. She teaches Sciences because there is no limit to acquiring scientific knowledge as there are endless discoveries being made. With that in mind, she sees this as an opportunity to engage with the students and inspire them to be curious about exploring and understanding the world around them. At the same time, when students use scientific knowledge and connect it to the real world, they will be able to come up with effective solutions to the world’s problems. The IB programme focuses on students’ learning as it takes them through the cycles of inquiry, action and reflection. This helps the students develop the disciplinary and interdisciplinary understanding that meets the international standards. Most importantly, students will find value in what they learn and apply their knowledge effectively when they serve the community and the environment in meaningful service activities.
