Lim Min Tze received the Commonwealth Scholarship, where she pursued her Master of Science in Plant Genetics Manipulation in the University of Nottingham, UK. Prior to teaching, Lim has worked with researchers from different institutions in assisting them with their research projects. Throughout her career as an IB educator, she is fortunate to have the opportunity to teach across the continuum of three programmes. Every year, every class and every student continuously challenge and changes her perspective in teaching and learning. Every experience with the students is special because each learners are unique individuals. She believes that students should be given the opportunity to explore, be creative and take ownership of their own learning. Advancement in technology enable easy access to massive amount of information. Rather than loading the students with content, her role as educators has shift to facilitating their learnings by teaching them concepts that transcend time and providing them with tools that help them grow as a learner. Students should understand that instead of answering all the questions, it is even more valuable to have the ability to reflect and ask the right questions. The fundamental unit of matter are atoms. Humans, nature and the rest of the cosmos are chemically connected. Learning science makes us realize that we are all integral part of the system and teaches appreciation and compassion. It is important to me that through learning the wonders of science and how things work, inspire them to be caring, ethical and responsible individuals that play an active role in protecting the Earth and make a difference in the world.
